Swimming Lessons Wakefield
Total Fitness Wakefield offers some of the best facilities in the local area for children's swimming lessons, it houses both a 25m long 1.2m deep main pool and a 12m x 7m 1.2m deep teaching pool.
We're proud to be teaching children to swim each week in Wakefield, giving them the best learn to swim journey possible. There's no overcrowding though, with only 6 children per class, and a learn to swim programme written by Olympic swimmer Becky Adlington, as well as industry professionals extensively experienced in teaching kids to swim!
It's an experience like no other, with the child's progress always first priority.
The changing facilities have recently been refurbished and contain some family changing areas, and there is also a large free car park on site. The venue has excellent facilities, and lessons take place in both swimming pools.
The club is located in Ossett just off the A638 Dewsbury Road, making it a really accessible place to learn to swim if you live locally in Wrenthorpe, Horbury, Kirkthorpe and other areas surrounding Wakefield.
Address: Silkwood Business Park, Fryers Way, Wakefield, Ossett, WF5 9AD (map below)
Session Details: Depending on the ability group of your child, numerous different skills and strokes will be taught on a weekly basis and progress will be updated by the teacher via the portal every 3 weeks. Please note: the venue allows 1 spectator per swimmer.
Clothing/Jewellery: Comfortable swimming costume or shorts no longer than knee length. All children must wear SwimStars ability related hats (provided on your first lesson, or purchased from our store). Please bring goggles if your child finds using them preferable.
Online tracker: Teachers update the progress portal 3 times a term, and you can check up on their progress at any time by logging into your online account.
What to do when you arrive: Please allow at least 10 minutes from arrival time to the start of your child’s lesson to ensure they have enough time to get changed, use the toilet and be ready on poolside waiting with you at the Parent Drop Off point, clearly marked by the banner on poolside. Once your child is collected by their teacher, you can make your way to the viewing area either in the café, or on poolside. Just before the end of the lesson, parents will make their way to the Parent Pick Up Point (also marked by a banner on poolside) where the teacher will hand the children directly back to you. Teachers are asked not to release children whose parents are not on poolside at the Pick Up Point for the safety of all swimmers.
