Chester schools swim to safety with SwimStars and RLSS!

School pupils from across Chester were invited to our first Water Safety Day , in partnership with the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS), ahead of Drowning Prevention Week in June.

After a successful first year of school swimming with us, pupils from our Chester primary schools learnt the S-A-F-E code of water safety with our trusted team of teachers at Total Fitness Chester, and put this into practice during their practical session.

Around 400 people drown in the UK each year, and this is something we at SwimStars are committed to doing something about. Through this work with RLSS, over 50 children took part in our first Water Safety Day, and hundreds more have been educated through school assemblies in recent weeks. Coordinator for Chester Hywel was really pleased with the event, and was delighted to see how much each child had learnt: "Seeing all of these young swimmers today, taking water safety so seriously was a pleasure to watch. Our teachers loved it, and found the group so engaged - if we prevent even one dangerous incident around water from this day, then it's a huge success for me!"

The best way of ensuring safety aorund water is learning to swim, and if you would like your child to begin their swimming experience with us, click  the ' Learn to Swim'   section on the Home page of this site or if give us a call on 0161 979 0499.
